Better Connections with Demetra Brege

Systemic & Family Psychotherapist

"Like all explorers, we are drawn to discover what’s out there without knowing yet if we have the courage to face it." - Pema Chödrön

A BIT ABOUT ME

I am a UKCP registered Systemic and Family Psychotherapist with experience providing evidence-based interventions with individuals, couples, and families across the age range, both in the public sector and NHS settings, including as a Clinical Team Lead for Emotional Disorders in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service.  In my current NHS role I facilitate groups for parents and carers, along with teaching and coordinating training in Systemic Thinking and Practice.

I have a particular interest in working with Anxiety, OCD, parenting, and increasing confidence in young people, caregivers, individuals, and couples. I have training and experience in Non-Violent Resistance parenting approaches, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Attachment Based Family Therapy (ABFT), Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), and Systemic Family Therapy for Anorexia (SFT-AN). I am an experienced supervisor and trainer.

Before training in Psychology and Systemic Psychotherapy, I worked in the financial industry.  Originally from California, I am married with 2 adult children.
